Imperial Airways was created by amalgamating a number of existing air transport companies, Instone Air Line Ltd., Handley Page Air Transport Ltd., The Daimler Airway and British Marine Air Navigation Co. Ltd. Imperial Airways flew to European destinations but were also known for their pioneering routes to Africa, India and the Middle East.
