Climbing up the North Col

Team members start the climb up the 1,000 foot wall of snow and ice leading to the North Col. Establishing a camp at the North Col was a vital requirement of any expedition to the North Face of Mount Everest. Once this camp was established it was from here that a summit attempt would be made.

Bentley Beetham was a climbing member of the 1924 expedition. Plagued by dysentery and sciatica, he never made his mark on the advanced stages of the expedition but instead managed to take some incredible photographs.
